04/03/25 - Secretary of Public Works Ray Yumul wrote to Commonwealth Casino Commission member Ralph Demapan requesting entry into the Imperial Pacific International facility in Garapan for a general building safety inspection by the department’s Building Safety Code Inspectors.
In an April 02, 2025, letter Yumul wrote, “The building inspection is necessary to assess the existing condition of the electrical, mechanical, and standard components of the equipment and, to verify the integrity of the building and welding connections.”
He added, “The construction of IPI Resort and Casino has been stalled since 2021, due to its inactivity. The structural members, mechanical equipment, and electrical components that may have been exposed to weather conditions are detrimental to the safety of the building.”
Yumul noted that the last inspection by the Building Safety Code Division was on December 27, 2023.
“The safety inspection is significant to identify the critical areas that may need immediate attention to prevent serious disasters from occurring and to protect life and property,” Yumul said.
