ASSISTANT ATHLETICS DIRECTOR
FRIENDS OF RACHEL CLUB MODERATOR
Hello! My name is Emily D'Antonio and I'm originally from Huntley, Illinois. After graduating from Huntley High School in Spring 2018, I went on to receive my Bachelors in English Education from Illinois State University. During my time at Illinois State, I taught students of all different cultural backgrounds and contexts at various school placements. I found a love for the schools nearing my hometown when I returned home to student teach at McHenry High School (Upper Campus). After graduating in 2022, I was hired at Marian! I spent my first three years here as a Freshmen and Senior levels English teacher. Now, in my fourth year at Marian, my passion for teaching has only deepened, especially since joining the remarkable athletics team at Marian Central Catholic High School. I've moved subjects and will be teaching physical education and freshman seminar courses this year but will be bringing my area of expertise in English into the gym whenever I can!
One of my passions aside from teaching is strength training/weight lifting. I was eager to get started with building the Sports Training Curriculum, which is a new course being offered this year! While I am stepping down from the role as the Track and Field Head Coach this year, I will still be involved as the Assistant Athletic Director. Aside from athletics, I am also the head coordinator for our Friends of Rachel Club; the club's main focus is to spread kindness and positivity and I strongly encourage you to join! Crazy Canes is another club that I run which oversees the making of our pep assemblies. Crazy Canes was started with the hope of boosting school spirit and filling our fan sections at school sporting events. Other hobbies of mine include reading (I prefer memoirs and personal biographies the most), getting active in other ways like cycling, hiking, paddle boarding, running, journaling, and spending quality time with my family, friends, and dog (ahhh... the important stuff: I have a two year old puppy golden retriever named Maizie!)
I'm excited to watch my students thrive this year and push themselves past their comfort zones in order to be successful in my classroom and in the gyms this year!
