I help individuals and couples explore their strengths, difficulties, and possibilities for change, and to chart a way forward. Treatment begins with an assessment of your current situation and your hopes for improvement. We will then collaboratively create a personalized treatment plan to advance you towards your goals.
That could include:
growing your toolbox to better cope with current stressors
exploring and addressing depression, anxiety, trauma, and underlying issues
recognizing and countering negative relationship patterns
improving communication
improving conflict management
You want to be able to talk about serious topics, and also, have some humor in your therapy.
You want therapy to be a conversation.
You don’t want to have to spend the rest of your life in therapy to get to a good place mentally, emotionally, or in your relationship.
You both want to make changes to be better partners.
You don’t want to have to teach your therapist about kink, ethical nonmonogamy, the sex industry, the LGBTQI+ community, and/or your cultural background. If I don’t already know about it; I know how to google - it’s not your job to educate your therapist.
You want someone available for regular crisis support between sessions.
You just want somewhere to vent - venting’s often part of the process in the work people do with me, but not all of the process.
You want someone who will take just your side and tell your partner they are the only one who needs to change.
I utilize primarily evidence-based practices found to be effective. I take a flexible approach, customizing treatment to best fit you while maintaining the factors that make treatment effective. This is often described as an integrative approach. These are some of the methods in which I am trained and have experience.
