The Mauritius Renewable Energy Agency (MARENA) has been created to oversee and promote the development of Renewable Energy in Mauritius and operates under the aegis of the Ministry of Energy and Public Utilities. The Agency intends to fill the following vacancy and invites candidates who have the necessary experience, expertise, interpersonal skills and drive to apply.
MARENA is inviting applications from qualified candidates who wish to be considered for appointment as Engineer on contract basis for two years.
Qualifications
A. Candidates should :
(i) be Electrical Engineers or Electronic Engineers or Mechanical Engineers or Electrical and Electronic Engineers or Civil
Engineers or Chemical Engineers or Chemical and Environmental Engineers registered with the Council of Registered
Professional Engineers of Mauritius under section 13 of the Registered Professional Engineers Council Act No. 49 of 1965, as
subsequently amended
(ii) reckon at least two years post graduate experience in engineering works related to sustainable renewable energy
(iii) possess problem solving and analytical skills
(iv) be able to work as part of a team and independently
(v) have knowledge of relevant legislation in the energy sector
(vi) be computer literate.
Candidates should possess written evidence of experience/knowledge claimed

Main Duties:
1. To be responsible to the Chief Executive Officer of the Mauritius Renewable Energy Agency (MARENA) for
(a) advising in Renewable Energy related matters.
(b) the preparation of technical specifications, cost estimates, bid documents, evaluation of bids and award of contracts.
(c) advising on terms of reference for appointment of consultants.
(d) guiding, supervising and coordinating the assignment of Technical Officers of the Agency.
(e) ensuring that the provisions of relevant legislation relating to Renewable Energy is enforced.
(f) the preparation and monitoring of sectional budget estimates for Renewable Energy and related projects
(g) participating in research work in connection with Renewable Energy technologies.
(h) ensuring compliance with the provisions of Renewable Energy regulations and quality management systems.
(i) liaising with client Ministries/Departments and other stakeholders for the coordination and execution of works and for the inclusion of best practices of Renewable Energy technologies.
(j) the training and coaching of staff working under his responsibility and
(k) organising and attending meetings, committees and Board, as and when required.
2. To use ICT in the performance of his duties.
3. To perform such other duties directly related to the main duties listed above or related to the delivery of the output and results expected from the Engineer in the roles ascribed to him.
Note
In case of a force majeure/public emergency, the Renewable Energy Development Officer will be required to be available to provide his services to ensure business continuity either through work from home, remote working, working online or work performed through any other IT system.
