It has been another busy week at Marden.
On Tuesday, we took part in 'Break the Rules Day' to raise funds for our chosen children's charity, Demelza. The children thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to wear their own clothes and experiment with a variety of hairstyles and colours. A heartfelt thank you to the School Council for their efforts in organising this delightful event.
On Thursday, our Key Stage 2 pupils had the exciting chance to visit Marden Cricket Club, where they engaged in a range of cricket activities designed to hone their skills and promote teamwork. The children relished this experience, and we extend our gratitude to the coaches and the Cricket Club for their exceptional organisation and hosting of the event.
Today, Polar house team celebrated their achievement of accumulating the highest number of house points with a non-school uniform day. Congratulations to Polar for earning an impressive total of 1,779 house points this term.
Sadly today we have said goodbye to Mrs Smith. We would like to thank her for all of her hard work and support during the time she has been at Marden. We would like to wish her the best of luck for the future.
As we approach the half term break, I would like to wish all families a lovely time together. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Tuesday 3rd June.

Superstars @ Marden
Last weekend, Max participated in Kent Festival of Speech and Drama in Canterbury, where he won his age category for Verse Speaking! He recited "Cats Sleep Anywhere" by Eleanor Farjeon. This was Max's second festival, after participating in both Verse Speaking and Prose Reading categories at Tunbridge Wells Arts Festival in March.
Well done Max, we're all super proud of you!
With around 70% of teens reporting they've seen violent real-life content on social media in the past year, this guide shines a light on a disturbing – and increasingly common – aspect of young people’s digital lives. From shocking videos to hate speech, many children don’t go looking for this material, it finds them via algorithms or peer sharing.
The guide outlines key concerns, including the mental toll of repeated exposure, shifts in behaviour, and the worrying normalisation of harmful ideologies. It also explains how such content can escalate from screen to street, and why some young people may feel pressured to share or even create violent media themselves.
