Principal's Message

It has been another fantastic week here at Marden. The children have been involved in lots of exciting learning experiences from making smoothies in Year 3 to having a Magistrate come to visit in Year 6.

We have been told recently about lots of children who have had some amazing achievements outside of school. We would really like to celebrate our children's successes in school and at home. If your child has something for us to celebrate, please send a photo and a little explanation so that we can add them to the newsletter.

The PTA held their AGM meeting this week, thank you to everyone who came to attend the meeting. There are plans for lots of exciting events for the children this year which is fantastic. If you would like to support with any of the events please let the PTA know.

On Monday we will be having our Harvest assemblies. Thank you to those of you who have completed the form to say you would like to attend. We are really looking forward to sharing this event with you.

Year R-6 Flu Vaccinations

Your child is invited to have a flu vaccination this winter.

Having the flu vaccine protects your child and your family and friends, by preventing the spread of flu. It’s recommended to have the vaccine every year as the type of flu can vary each winter. The vaccination is a quick and painless spray up the nose. There is no charge for the vaccine.

The Kent and Medway School Immunisation Service is visiting Marden on:

 Friday 13th October 2023.

Please discuss this immunisation with your child and complete the online consent form at: www.kentcht.nhs.uk/imms before midnight on 9th October 2023 to tell us if your child is getting the vaccine or not.

National Online Safety

WhatsApp is the most widely used messaging platform on the planet, with over two billion users (forecast to become three billion by 2025), across more than 180 countries. The majority of those people (70%) open the app at least once a day – but what exactly are they seeing? Contact from strangers, fake news and convincing scams are all among the service’s well-documented hazards.

According to Ofcom, WhatsApp is used by more than half of 3- to 17-year-olds in the UK (including one in three from the 8–11 bracket), despite its 16+ age restriction. If your child hops onto WhatsApp to stay in touch with friends or family, our updated #WakeUpWednesday guide to the service contains the key details you’ll need to support them in doing it safely.
