On Tuesday 21st September, we will be having photographers in school to update our website. I appreciate we have a supply issue for uniforms but try and be in the best uniform possible. If you do not want your child to be in the pictures, please inform the office.
I have thoroughly enjoyed giving out my principal award stickers today and it is great to see the children wearing them with pride.
Unfortunately, attendance remains a huge concern. I appreciate there are some bugs going around but we do not have a single class in the school with good attendance! Children have missed an awful lot of school and we have a lot of catching up to do.
Mr N Dosad
On any social media platform, you’ll often come across links to genuine-looking websites.
They might include an exclusive offer for one of your favourite shops or invite you to complete a quiz in return for a particular reward. In some cases, clicking on these links takes you to a fake website where you are asked to provide your personal details.
The whole enterprise is a ploy to capture sensitive details, such as your email address and password, which the scammers then exploit at your expense.
In the guide, you'll find tips on a number of potential risks such as phishing scams, untrustworthy URLs and 'payment first' scams.
At Marden Primary Academy, we have high expectations for the attendance of our pupils. This is because we recognise that all absence is potentially detrimental to a child’s education. Missing school can damage children’s achievements, disrupt the school’s routines and affect other children’s learning. It can also leave children at risk of anti-social behaviour and youth crime. Above all, missing out on the opportunities provided in school can have a long-term effect on children’s chances in life.
In order for young people to gain maximum benefit from their time at school, and to maximise future life opportunities, it is imperative that young people attend every day, all day.
Fortnightly meetings will take place between the Principal, Inclusion Lead and Office Manager to identify those children at risk of persistent absence or other families requiring support in regards to attendance. Where necessary meetings will be held between the Inclusion Lead, Office Manager and parents/carers to identify barriers to attendance and to ensure their engagement with both school and any other external support if needed.
If attendance for these families does not improve, we will involve the Education Welfare Officer (EWO) from Kent County Council who will then join the meetings or will visit families at home.
A further step will then take place if necessary, between the academy, parents and with a Governor Panel, to reinforce the seriousness of persistent absence.
A polite reminder that the school day start at 8:45 and ends at 3:00. The school gates open at 8:30 and we expect all children to be on the school site, ready to learn by 8:45 at the latest. This is being monitored daily. Remember - Every second counts.
The Academy has been hit with a sickness bug this week which has greatly impacted our attendance figures.
With the start of the new academic year the PTA are very excited to welcome parents old and new.
The role of the PTA within the academy is not just to raise money but to enrich your child's learning experience.
In the past the PTA has hosted Christmas Fairs and Summer Fetes, Discos and Film Nights, Mothers, Fathers and Grandparents events as well as wider community events from Fireworks Night to Village Quiz and Curries. The money we have raised has been used for everything from improving early years facilities, to funding school trips and classroom interactive whiteboards.
Going forwards as much as we would love to continue, we simply cannot do so without your help.
We are a small friendly team in desperate need of more support from you the parents; anyone who can offer any time no matter how little please come and join us!.
We will be holding our first meeting of the year in the school hall on Tuesday 28th September.
We would love to see you there; please come along and take a look.
On Friday 24th September at 3pm, we will be opening up the travelling book fair in the dining hall (KS1 Playground).
There are over 200 titles for you and your child to choose from, and with prices starting from only £2.99, there’s sure to be a book for everyone. If you can’t make it to our Book Fair, try our Gift Vouchers available at www.travellingbooks.co.uk/parents. They’re a great way to ensure your child doesn’t miss out. Don’t forget that every book you buy can help to get FREE BOOKS for our school library!
