After the last couple of years, it has been lovely to see children settling so well back at school. To hear singing lessons, mixing at playtime and eating lunch together has been a joy.
We are really excited to invite you all to the book fair on Monday, more information can be found underneath but we are looking forward to seeing you all there!
With the unexpected beautiful weather this week, we have found a number of children leaving their jumpers out on the field. Please ensure you are labelling your child's school uniform, particularly jumpers and cardigans. It makes it easier for us to return lost items to children if they are named and better still, for children to find themselves!
I am excited for the fundraising and volunteering to start again, so please do get in touch with the PTA below. With so much education lost, it would be great to invest in experiences for our children. We are also keen to renovate outside areas of the school, so if you can donate your time, paint or green fingers - the MPA community would be very grateful!
Mr N Dosad
Most smartphones allow parents and carers to choose which apps and features appear on their child’s device and which ones don’t – also preventing young people from buying and downloading anything that’s unsuitable for their age. Our #WakeUpWednesday guides to parental controls for managing apps on iPhones will help you to reduce the chance of your child using a game or app that might not be appropriate for their age.
In the guide, you'll find tips on a number of tips such as how to restrict built-in apps, the game centre and app store purchases.
We all use mathematics daily in what we do. Involve your child in using numbers to solve problems and make those everyday decisions with you. For example:
“Do we have enough plates and utensils for all the guests coming for the birthday party?”
“We are doubling this recipe. How much of all the ingredients will we need?”
“We are fertilising the lawn. The fertiliser bag covers three square metres. How many will we need?”
“This store is selling the game you want for 20% off of £27.00. That store is selling the same game for £19.99. Where should we shop?”
At Marden Primary Academy, we have high expectations for the attendance of our pupils. This is because we recognise that all absence is potentially detrimental to a child’s education. Missing school can damage children’s achievements, disrupt the school’s routines and affect other children’s learning. It can also leave children at risk of anti-social behaviour and youth crime. Above all, missing out on the opportunities provided in school can have a long-term effect on children’s chances in life.
In order for young people to gain maximum benefit from their time at school, and to maximise future life opportunities, it is imperative that young people attend every day, all day.
Fortnightly meetings will take place between the Principal, Inclusion Lead and Office Manager to identify those children at risk of persistent absence or other families requiring support in regards to attendance. Where necessary meetings will be held between the Inclusion Lead, Office Manager and parents/carers to identify barriers to attendance and to ensure their engagement with both school and any other external support if needed.
If attendance for these families does not improve, we will involve the Education Welfare Officer (EWO) from Kent County Council who will then join the meetings or will visit families at home.
A further step will then take place if necessary, between the academy, parents and with a Governor Panel, to reinforce the seriousness of persistent absence.
A polite reminder that the school day start at 8:45 and ends at 3:00. The school gates open at 8:30 and we expect all children to be on the school site, ready to learn by 8:45 at the latest. This is being monitored daily. Remember - Every second counts.
You can help make a difference by purchasing from our Book Fair – every purchase earns our academy rewards which we can spend on free books to stock our library and classrooms.
• You can pay easily and securely for featured books and many more when you attend the Fair by using our online payment link at www.travellingbooks.co.uk/pay and simply selecting Marden Primary Academy from the drop down menu.
• If you’re unable to visit the Book Fair, you can pay for any books easily from home using the online parent pay system on the Travelling Books website. Books will be delivered to us for you to collect on 30th September. Visit www.travellingbooks.co.uk/parents for more information.
• Pre-paid gift vouchers are available in £5, £10, £15, £20 and £25. Go to www.travellingbooks.co.uk/parents to buy vouchers for your child before the Fair.
Due to continuing COVID concerns, we have decided that now would not be the right time to invite parents into the academy and run an autumn sports day. However, with this in mind, we are already entered into several sporting competitions this year with several fixtures planned for each. They are as follows:
KS1 football
KS2 girls and boys football
Netball
We also hope to participate in more sporting competitions throughout the year.
Thank you for your understanding.

HELP...The PTA Needs You!
Please help... The PTA is holding their first annual meeting this Tuesday 28th September at 18.00 in the school hall and we would love to see as many of you as can make it.
We already have some exciting ideas for this school year including looking at whether we will be able to do something around bonfire night but we will not be able to do anything without you.
We would love to have all of your input and ideas and desperately need your help. If you can spare anytime at all we would love to see you on Tuesday even if it is only for a chat.
