Principal's Message

In my final ever Newsletter to you all, it is quite difficult to find the words to say. What a year we have had! This week has seen trips to the seaside in reception, Year 6 have been to Stubbers and Year 5 camped overnight! I have thoroughly enjoyed my last week at Marden, catching up with the children about their plans for the summer and reflections on what an amazing year they have had. Thank you to the Year 6 parents for funding their inflatables fun day and enjoying the leaver's performance. I am ever so proud of them and the Year 6 team.

I hope you have the most incredible summer, thank you for making my time here at Marden so special and I wish you, your children and the staff at Marden all the success in the future.

Mr N Dosad

Support for Low-Income Families This Summer

Summer FSM Vouchers

We will once again be issuing supermarket vouchers to families eligible for benefits-related free school meals for the summer holiday. Funding has been set at £10 per week per eligible child so you will receive 1 x £60 voucher.

Year 6 leavers remain eligible to receive summer vouchers.

Vouchers will be issued to eligible parents via Wonde's E-Voucher system on Friday 21st July 2023.

Free Bus Travel for low-income families

KCC and local bus companies have joined forces to offer free bus travel for low-income families this summer break. This is a fantastic offer and should enable our most vulnerable families to get out and about over the summer and access free Holiday Activity and Food Programmes.

Bus passes were issued to eligible parents via Wonde's E-Voucher system on Monday 17th July 2023.

Sustainability Project

When the children return to school, each class will be working on a project linked to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.

We would like to welcome you into school on Friday 8th September 2023 at the end of the school day to see the outcomes of their week-long project. We will share further details when we return in September.

LAT Award Winners

Every year, Leigh Academies Trust holds an awards evening to recognise the staff and their contributions.

This year, Mrs Mason won Primary Teacher of the Year and Mrs Rawling was highly commended for the Leadership Award for Quality of Education.

HUGE congratulations to them both!

National Online Safety

The brainchild of three Berlin-based developers, W App (initially known as ‘Slay’) was an instant hit – claiming the number one spot on the App Store in its home country just four days after launching in early 2023. Its central concept – to “promote positive online interactions” – is certainly praiseworthy but can actually introduce additional risks if not delivered carefully.

W App’s comparative lack of verification processes at the sign-up stage, for instance, leaves the door open for misuse by impersonators and potential predators: far from ideal on a platform that’s explicitly geared towards a school-aged teen audience. Our free #WakeUpWednesday guide tells parents and carers what they need to know about the possible pitfalls on W App.
