Vice Principal's Message

Thank you to everyone that joined us for the Coronation Picnic this afternoon. It was lovely to see so many families and we were so lucky with the weather! The singing and dancing performances from the children were wonderful. We even crowned a King and Queen of Marden! Congratulations to Joel and Sophia. Please take a look at the Coronation Picnic page in the newsletter to see some highlights from the day.

Next week is an important week for our Year 6 pupils as it is SATs week. The children (and staff) have worked so hard to ensure they are ready. We are so proud of them and we know that they will shine. The Year 6 team has organised the week so that the children have a calm, quiet space to work in and I know that the whole school is rooting for them. Remember, we are providing a free breakfast every day next week for the Year 6 pupils to give them a good start to the day.

Have a relaxing weekend and we will see you on Tuesday 9th May.

Love Reading 4 Kids

The Love Reading 4 Kids website has some fantastic book recommendations for children, including a synopsis and extracts of the many books they document. This is a great resource to help children and parents select new texts that may be of interest to them and the option and opportunity to try before you buy!

Maidstone Borough Council Coronation Street Party

On Friday 5th May, Maidstone Borough Council hosted a Traditional Street Party for 150 children to celebrate the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III and her Majesty the Queen Consort.

Marden Primary Academy was successful in applying for 10 tickets and a group of our year 5/6 children joined the Mayor of Maidstone, Cllr Derek Mortimer, at the Traditional Street Party at Lockmeadow Entertainment Complex.

The children were able to take part in creative activities, enjoyed some ‘royal’ entertainment and had a lovely picnic lunch.

National Online Safety

Naval officer. Student. Environmental campaigner. Husband and father. King Charles III has juggled several previous roles in his 73 years, but having ascended to a new position last year – that of Britain’s 62nd monarch – His Majesty is about to be formally crowned at a historic event which will make headlines not just in this country, but around the world. Children may be intrigued to see from our commemorative poster some of the notable (and possibly lesser-known) landmarks and successes in the King’s life to date – from his years training as a pilot in the RAF to his work supporting young people to the valuable restoration projects carried out by the architectural charity he founded.
