Once a week, during form time, students at Marden High School complete numeracy activities. These are centred around Marden's very own numeracy newspaper - Marden's Numeracy News. Which takes a look at local, national and international news with a focus on the numbers behind the stories.
Below you can see this week's edition (released on a Wednesday) and the archive of editions from earlier this year and previous years. There is also a link to The Daily Rigour - a Scottish numeracy newspaper which was the inspiration for our own.
Students are encouraged to contribute their own stories (see by-lines), questions and solutions for the paper and we are always looking for more contributions. If you have a story that you would like to see included please get in touch with Mrs Goldie (s.goldie@mardenhigh.net).
Year 11 students complete 10 'Crossover' questions which are suitable for all the students in preparing for their GCSEs. These questions come for MathsBox.
The Daily Rigour was the inspiration behind Marden's Numeracy News and was used in school at the start of the 2021 academic year.
You can access all of the previous edition's along with video solutions from their website.
