Write For Rights!
By Miley Barber
Of all children in school,
I’m not the tallest,
Of all voices in the school,
Mine will always be the smallest,
But soon people will hear my voice,
And hopefully rejoice,
Because I believed and always believed, mine could be the loudest.
A poem written for Human Rights Week
by Harriet Graham
As the widow's tear cascaded,
Her fear faded,
For her child, a beam of light,
Seemed to reassure her fright,
Faith fulfilled the mother's heart once more,
As the child's bliss spread to her core.

Sadness by Erin Shippey
Sadness invades your soul, if you let it fill you up it will drain you down till you are nothing but sadness itself. The power it contains will take over your emotions and replace them with a feeling of desperateness so strong you will think of nothing else. It is a powerful thing, seeping into your mind and bewitching your thoughts with only the worst.

No Hope by Erin Shippey
Little life was detected in the whole landscape, the silence louder than any noise. The buildings were poorly constructed and abandoned, indicating serious poverty. The empty houses seemed to scream out, their inoccupation producing an aura of pure terror. Why these people left their homes, the only source of comfort to the individuals of this new and horrid world, prisoner 01472 could not tell. Reality seemed only an illusion to the current occupiers of this barren wasteland. The honourable beast stood proudly at it's master's side, it's large pools of golden mysteriousness staring up at prisoner 01472 with such admiration and affection it almost forgot about it's desolate surroundings. Almost. Wind brushed their faces and ruffled their hair. Tears slowly started to fall from the grim prisoner's eyes, hope was nowhere to be found. Both of them were fully aware of the unfortunate fate that awaited them beyond the courageous mountains, though it was difficult to believe. denial was the only consolation manageable. feeling as though they may collapse from starvation and exhaustion, the duo walked on silently. Every step was a burden. The adventure ahead and what was sure to come of it weighed heavily on their souls, any smidgen of joy was immediately washed away by the cruel, merciless waves of despair. Recovery from the trauma of the previous events of the journey seemed impossible.
Turning 12 can be fun,
But it can also have its downfalls,
Like you realize next year your turning 13,
Officially and actually a teenager,
So it’s kind of scary right?
But also that you’ve turned 12,
And it’s your birthday so it has to be fun,
Like how you get all those gifts and presents,
Even though you already know most of them,
But just that feeling of being older,
And having more responsibilities,
And more mature,
Just makes it that little bit better,
Enjoying your birthday is treat,
So enjoy it while it lasts,
And have the time of your life.

One of the worst omens
Rain one of the worst omens of them all,
Gloom and doom swirls like a tornado,
Death caused by the grim the worst omen there is,
Battles battered and long rattling breath,
One last breath of life one last breath of the world.

Rain by Miley Barber
Splashes on the footpath,
Dribbles down the drain,
Trickles pretty patterns on the window pane.
Soaks all the garden,
Washes every tree,
Fills up ponds and rivers,
And splatters on the sea.
Pours on every picnic,
Spoils a barbecue,
Drenches all our washing,
And you are dampened all the way through.
