We started the module by looking at the similarities and differences in the shelters that we live in. We further explored form by creating structures using only marshmallows and spaghetti.
Year 1 have been exploring various toys from the past. We have been exploring what these toys are made from and how they have changed over time. Using this knowledge, we have made mini models of old toys to create our very own Mini Toy Museum.
Year 2 have really enjoyed learning about history and using sources and research skills to discover information about the key people behind the Gunpowder Plot. Linking to Parliament we had some fantastic debates, it was interesting to listen to the children listening to eah others perspectives.
Year 3 have been delving deeply into Stone Age life this week. Yesterday we spent part of the day outside creating Stone Age fat lamps, which the children enjoyed embellishing with a variety of natural resources from the woodland floor.
Year 4 have been exploring ancient civilisations, particularly Ancient Greece. They have researched the architecture, leisure activities and armies of the time and even recreated the Ancient Greek armies 'Phalanx' formation with meter sticks as spears!
Year 5 have been investigating where rivers are, both around the world and in Great Britain, and what's around them. They have been reflecting on their discoveries, and trying to figure out why early settlers chose to settle where they did.
As part of their inquiry into exploration, Year 6 have been learning about the growth of the British Empire. They learnt that a significant part of this growth was about trade routes, so we played a very fun trading game!
