VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Imagine someone in Marblehead living with dementia or Alzheimer's.
Imagine his wife is his primary caregiver.
The wife is doing her best but she is tired and could use a break now.
The wife hears about OMA at the COA and signs up her husband.
Once a week, for 2 hours, the woman brings her husband to the Marblehead Council on Aging (COA) where he is paired with a student, like you.
Together, you help him create art, while getting to know him and sharing the time. Meanwhile, his wife is getting a break for a bit.
There are other teenagers at the COA who are paired with other people living with dementia and/or Alzheimer's. Music is playing. The vibe is supportive and kind and generous. The world becomes a kinder place.
At the end of July, OMA puts on an Art Show.
Hopefully, you are in attendance at the Art Show to support your person and the others.

The festival has a fun event for young kids to build and decorate (and later sail on Redd's Pond) model sailboats. We need volunteers to work with the kids to keep paint moving to builders and manage supplies, and to assist kids and parents in building and painting their boats.
It's really fun. High school students would be great for this.
It's on July 3, 11 AM to 1 PM at Lee Mansion. Here's the link to the sign-up:
