The Marblehead Democratic Town Committee honors the memory of Edwin L. Goldberg and Selma L. Goldberg by awarding a scholarship to a graduating senior of Marblehead High School who has demonstrated an outstanding interest in the political process by way of involvement in local, state, or national political activities and community activism. Interest in the political process can be manifested in various ways. It is our hope to honor that diversity by recognizing achievement in a broad-based manner. A student may contribute to the community and the political process in a fashion most suited to his or her own particular interest and abilities and is not required to be a registered Democrat. In meeting the high standards for civic spirit set by the Goldbergs, it is our intent to foster in the recipient a lifelong commitment to political activism.
