The design of my capstone project depicts dance and band together to tell my life through it. The different movements in the piece show the feelings that I think most poeple tend to feel as they grow up. The life of a child, early teenage years, and the time of senior year is shown through how I have felt in those times in the music and the dance. Representation and connection to my peers is something I wanted to be able to have displayed and felt through out the project. It's also hsowing the connection and dance and music in itself, also being some of the most important things to me in my life from a young age.
My project was shown through a video, it was originally going to be performed live with multiple people involved. Two dancers and three musicains to perform the story I wanted to convey. As I got further into the design process it continued to feel so personal. Their was no possible way too dance and play my insurment at the same time, so I decided too record the music and dance to it in video form. It became a heartfelt project that meant so much to me and became a part of my story that I felt no one else could show, even if they have had similiar feelings to my own it was mine.
Thinking about the process and product of your Capstone, reflect upon what you are most proud of and what you might do differently if you were to complete a similar project in the future.
I am most proud of the feelings I was able to execute through the piece, and the way it speaks to what I think most people think. I could have changed a million different parts of it all but I do wish that I could have made the dance bolder to the music.
Explain how your life experiences are reflected through your project.
The capstone project I created is meant to show what happened in my life through the things I have cherished most through out my life and have experienced for years and playing out the feelings that were with me as I did the things I love.
Thinking about the Extra-curricular hours you completed, reflect upon what you learned through the experiences and/or how you have been impacted as an artist?
Through out the time I have spent in my extra-curricluar hours I realize the passion and love to have for art is such an honor, it has become an outlet and a place to find peace. It's a different type of respect you can't understand unless you have done it yourself.
How is your life positively impacted by the arts?
My life has been positively impacted by the arts in many different ways, through allowing my body to dance away the stress that builds up in my muscle to playing the notes as softly I can to let sadness escpae my mind, I have found comfort and passion in the arts and continuosly share the emotions I have from it with others and try to inspire anyone I can.
How do you plan to include artistic experiences in your future after high school?
I plan to continue my involvment in the arts by spinning with the Pride of Arizona at the Univeristy of Arizona, and hopefully joing band and dance at Pima Community College.
What advice would you give an incoming freshmen about studying the arts to help them make the most of their experiences while in high school?
I would tell incoming freshman too find a reason why they do whatever part of the arts they do, as a tool to love something and cherish it. Don't do something becuase they just feel they should but find a care for it and learn to value it.
