Below is outlined our class behavior management system.
Rules, Procedures, and Expectations
Our classroom has 3 rules:
Be Respectful to yourself
Be Respectful to others
Be Respectful to school property
We also have routines, expectations, and procedures that we have learned throughout the year. This includes (but is not limited to):
How to come in from recess
Not talking when the teacher is talking
How to choose a seat where you will work well
What it looks like to do quality work
How to treat your classmates
Cleaning up at the end of the day
And much more!
Behavior Management System
If a student is choosing not to follow the outlined rules, procedures, and expectations - here is our class' policy for minor behavior issues:
1st Offense: Student gets a warning and a "Redirect Card"
This is a small card that says "Redirect Card" which serves as a visual reminder to both the student and I that they have been given a warning and should change their behavior.
2nd Offense: The student will move seats or something equivalent.
This is a small natural consequence for things such as:
Student was talking when they shouldn't have been, they can try a different seat.
Student ran through the classroom, they will try again but walking this time.
3rd Offense: Student will complete a think and write.
This means that they will think about their actions and write about it. A think and write will be signed by the teacher and will come home to be signed by Parents or Guardians.*
*There could be additional Consequences such as not being able to sit with their friend for an allotted amount of time, writing an apology, or memorizing a Bible verse, depending on frequency and severity of the issue.
4th Offense: If the behavior continues beyond this point, it will likely be deemed that a visit with Mrs. Davis would help in correcting behavior.
Major Behavior Issues: May go straight to Mrs. Davis, depending on the severity.
