What is GEDO#2?
A: GED Option #2 is an alternative education program that allows students to take GED Tests in core areas (English, Math, Science, and Social Studies) to measure proficiency in lieu of high school credit for credit deficient students. A student who passes the GED Tests and completes other requirements for graduation is entitled to the traditional high school diploma. GEDO#2 has 15 Competencies for students to complete.
Does my child receive a GED or a High School Diploma?
A: The student receives a High School Diploma! If the student successfully completes the required components of the GEDO#2 program the student will earn a Merrill High School Diploma.
Is a job required?
A: Yes, a student must be employed/have a W-2 employment. Exceptions are agriculture. Your child must be employed throughout the program and have at a minimum of 90 hours by graduation.
Q: Can my child walk at graduation?
A: Yes as long as they meet the 90% attendance requirement that all high school seniors have to follow in accordance with school board policy.
