A little about me

Teaching Bio

I have been teaching at Maplewood since 2008. This is a great district with an awesome community atmosphere and I look forward to many more years here. I graduated from Kent State University, but I have also attended Colorado State and Ohio State. Like many young individuals, I was not exactly sure what I wanted my career to be and spent two years in a pre-vet program and another year in a wildlife biology program where I was training to be a game warden. After some thought, I came to the decision that while I liked a job that would allow me to work outside, I was not thrilled about confronting disgruntled gentlemen carrying rifles and shotguns.

I found myself interested in teaching by accident. While attending undergrad, I began tutoring children at a local middle school and I was amazed to find that I really enjoyed it. Thus, my adventure into the education world began.

Just For Fun

I graduated from Bloomfield High School so Maplewood is a metropolis by comparison. Some people have asked me in the past why I chose to move back to Ohio after living out west and the answer is simple- I like Ohio. The weather is ok (most of the time) and my family is here.

I am a huge supporter of agriculture and in my spare time, I like hanging out with my family, gardening, and riding my horses- Ginger and Cody.

My guilty pleasures include watching The Avenger Series (Captain America will always be my favorite), playing Harry Potter Legos video games, craft projects, and reading Sci Fi books.
