A St. Albans City School 7th & 8th Grade Learning Community
In June, Team USA students complete the St. Albans City School annual culminating event known as PLP Night. PLP is a Personal Learning Plan, but has evolved into prompts that allow students to reflect on their experiences at City School. The goal is for students to connect their learning to the transferable skills (Clear & Effective Communication, Informed & Integrative Thinking, Creative & Practical Problem Solving, Responsible & Involved Citizenship, and Self-direction) outlined in their e-p0rtfolios. Â
Students prepare for the night in Language Arts class by organizing and writing a response. 7th graders share their final product in class. 8th graders present their products to an audience of family and friends during the last two weeks of the school year.
2022 PLP Topics
Option 1:
Reflect on your time at City School. Describe a life lesson you learned during your time here. Explain which transferable skill evolved the most as a result of this life lesson. How will that impact your future?Â
Option 2:
Write a letter to your younger or older self. Reflect on your time at City School, the lessons you’ve learned, things you’ve overcome and goals you’d like to achieve later in your life. Consider what you didn’t know when you were younger, what you know now and what you still have to learn.
Option 3:
Talk about a career you hope to pursue. What skills or opportunities have you had at City School that would prepare you for this career? What future steps would be required to help you achieve this goal?Â
