Kindergarten learned how to use shapes and lines to draw a self portrait. They studied famous self portraits first and really tried to add as many details as they could about themselves.

1st and 2nd Grade Students are "blooming" with creativity!
We have been studying flowers, noticing all of their parts, and learning about how they grow. They tried drawing tulips with oil pastels and then adding watercolor. They also used line to add detail to spring flowers and pattern to their pots and tables.
3rd and 4th graders made Robot Collages after reading the book Robot Stop. They learned how to use found objects to make prints. Then, they added metallic paints, charcoal, and robot sounds and words to their collages. They had a lot of fun designing their robots to do something valuable to them.
All students, preschool through 6th grade, were invited along with their families to create circle art. Even the staff got to join in. We all had fun watching our circle art grow and develop as the night went on.
When they were finished, each school got to hang one up in their hallway.
Students worked with Perkins Art Center to create a mosaic for our renovated courtyard at John Hydock! Although it was primarily a second grade experience, all students had an opportunity to create a part of the mosaic and place their work in the final piece. We chose to center our work around tortoises in honor of those that make their home in our courtyard.
Preschool and Kindergarten added palm pebbles to the land and sky
1st grade made flowers, birds, and butterflies
Early finishers even got to add a few people
2nd grade designed turtle tiles based on their research
