Mansfield Middle School students rotate through 4 related arts. In addition to Art, these include General Music, Life and Consumer Sciences and Technology Education. During one quarter of the year, which is approximately 25-27 lessons, students will center their learning on various skills related to traditional forms of art media and applications of technology to this discipline.

Given that the majority of work is completed during class time, strategies for a parents understanding of student progress might start with an inquiry to their child:
ask about their art folder
Inquire on the progress on their current project
Look for displays of student art throughout the school year
On-line Gallery Displays
Students can enhance their art practice through simple strategies such as:
Possessing good quality drawing pencils are encouraged
Utilize Art X-Block times, or afterschool
Take advantage of Community Oriented Art Activities such as:
Halloween Window Painting
Theater set and backdrops

Our Art program is aligned to both state and national standards. All projects include formative and summative assessments such as reflective writing, peer review, sharing, and rubrics to assist students as they center their own learning towards success in their creative endeavors.
Absences
Students who miss class time because of RA music lessons or other structured pull outs are expected to check in with their Art Buddy to find out what they missed
