GRADE 6 EXPECTATIONS FOR STUDENT SUCCESS
MATH HOMEWORK:
Math students use Khan Academy (khanacademy.org) for their weekly homework. This allows students to practice skills that we have been learning about in class. It also provides individual assistance along the way in the form of hints and videos.
Please encourage your child to have a pencil and paper or a dry erase board when working on homework. This really helps! The work can be done anytime during the week between Monday and Sunday.
We anticipate that most students will spend a total of 60 to 90 minutes per week. It's helpful and recommended to break up the work over a few days. We ask students to begin early in the week so that we can monitor progress over time. I'm available at X-block for homework help every day except Day 1 of the rotating schedule. Many students choose to do some of their homework in my room because I'm able to give immediate support and there are often other students around to help as well. Please let me know if your child is struggling. I'm here to help!!
Check Google Classroom for weekly details. (You may need to ask your child to log in and click this link).
All daily classwork assignments are posted in Google Classroom.

SCIENCE:
We rarely have homework in Grade 6 Science. Students are responsible for completing daily work if not finished during class. We learn and practice a lot of study techniques in class to help students become more successful in all areas. Occasionally, we may have a project to finish or a quiz to study for outside of class. Please check Google Classroom and planners for details about daily lessons.
