Weeks of: February 2 - February 6
Language: Students will continue to use nouns, verbs, adjectives, pronouns and adverbs. Students will be asked to identify in sentences, use in sentences verbally as well as written sentences. Students will continue to work on using conjuctions in sentences.
Spelling this week- focuses on spelling rule of /k/.
Amplify: Unit 6: Vikings
In this unit, students will be reading about Norse myths- these myths are about Norse gods, goddesses, dwarves, and giants that occupied the nine worlds. In this unit, students will also be taking part in a quest- The quest is 5 days long and each day the students will land in a new place where there is a Viking settlement in history. Students will work together to find resources and then make decisions together about trading.
Math: Standard: 2 step word problems
Level 1: solve 1 step word problem with addition/subtraction
Level 2: solve 1 step word problem with multpliction/division
Level 3: solve 2 step word problems with either addition, subtraction, multiplication, division
Writing: We are now moving into opinion (persuasive) writing. Students will be following the same model using TIDE. They will need to give their opinion- state reasons with details to back up their reasons.
Science: Students will be learning about weather. We will be first looking at the different types of weather and then moving into the water cycle. If the students are able to identify the different parts of the water cycle we will be moving into weather tools.
Social Studies: Apart of the Viking unit, students will be describing how people trade goods and services and explain how needs, wants, and scarcity influence decisions.
