Meet Dr. Deborah Krawtz
School Counselor
School Counselor
I am so excited to be part of the Gladiator Family! This is my 23rd year in the Manor ISD and my 4th year at NTMS. Before coming to NTMS, I was the Visual Arts Teacher at Manor Middle School, the School Counselor at Oak Meadows Elementary and a 5th Grade and Art Teacher at Manor Elementary.
I completed my Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling, from Texas State University. I also have a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, from Ohio State University, A Master’s Degree in College Student Personnel, from Ohio University, and a Ph.D. in Education Administration, from Virginia Tech. Before moving to Texas, I worked at Virginia Tech in Student Affairs in Career and Professional Development.
In my spare time, I love outdoor activities, swimming and watching all sports - especially baseball and college football. I am a huge Buckeyes fan, as I grew up in Ohio and my entire family attended Ohio State! Our daughter Jillian a recent graduate from Ohio State, is now in her first year of Physical Therapy School at George Washington University in Washington DC.
I also love art-both visual arts and art history. As a design major in college and later a visual arts instructor, I have found my art skills to be an asset in every professional setting I have worked in. As an artist, I’ve learned to think creatively and be resourceful, develop schematic and detailed processes, as well as, develop many art techniques. As a counselor, I love incorporating art activities when working with scholars! When I have time to create my own art, my favorite art mediums are fiber arts, mosaics and clay.
My husband Joe and I enjoy living in the Austin area with our daughter, Jillian (when she is not at school!), and our 7 yr.old Australian Shepherd, Winston.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. I look forward to meeting and working with you!
