Yes, school supplies will be needed for in-person instruction. Due to the unique circumstances of our return, we are asking each scholar to come to school with a binder with lined paper and dividers inside, 4 composition notebooks, and pencil box/pouch in their backpack that includes the following items:
3-4 pencils
a personal pencil sharpener
scissors
glue stick/glue bottle
box of colored pencils or crayons
3-4 erasers
These supplies will not be shared with their classmates and will be stored in their backpack when not in use.
In addition to these supplies, your scholar must also bring headphones and their district-issued iPad, if they have one. If they do not, one will be available for them while at school.
All scholars and staff will be required to wear masks. Scholars and staff will also be provided with face shields they can use in addition to their masks if they choose. There will be hand sanitizing stations throughout the campus, as well as sanitizer in every classroom. There will be transparent sneeze guards used in the cafeteria and in classrooms as an additional safety measure. All hallways and outside sidewalks have social distance markings on the floor, six feet apart. Water fountains have been replaced with water bottle filling stations, and every scholar will receive a personal water bottle for use throughout the day.
Breakfast will be individually packaged and served to scholars in their classroom.
Lunch will be served in the cafeteria, with socially distanced seating and sneeze guards on tables. If your scholar is eating a school-provided lunch, they will be handed an individually packaged lunch by our cafeteria staff. No student numbers or cash exchange will occur during the process.
Unfortunately, no. Due to safety and health protocols, parents will not be allowed to eat with their child at this time.
While playgrounds will remain closed for the time being, classes will be taken down to the track where they will get the chance to walk the track socially distanced or play in their designated area socially distanced. During this time outside, scholars will be allowed to take off their masks and wear them on their wrist while outside. Scholars will be required to put their masks back on prior to entering the school after recess.
If you are zoned to attend Decker Elementary School, your child may ride the school bus to and from school. Scholars will be required to wear masks on the bus and cleaning protocols will be followed before and after completion of each route. To find your child’s bus route click here.
Yes. Drop off and pick up procedures will look different in order to follow safety and health protocols. Please remain in your car while in the pick up/drop off line and follow staff instructions.
If you wish to park your car and walk up to pick up your child, we ask that you walk to the crosswalk and wait for your child to be brought to you. Please do not call out to your child or motion for them to come to you, but instead wait patiently for staff to go get your child and bring them to the crosswalk.
