Tournaments are held 2nd Sunday of each month.

General Tournament Guidelines*
1. Players not in a team will be matched at the start of the tournament.
2. Each team is assigned a team number for the duration of the tournament.
3. The teams will be randomly matched to play each other and will follow posted schedule of rotation.
4. In cases of a dispute, the tournament referee will provide clarification of the rules.
5. The Big Joker is displayed in color or indicated by “Guarantee”.
6. Scorecard must be signed off by both players prior to turning it in for the prize.
7. If there is a tie breaker round, one player from each team will pull a card to determine 1) opponents and dealer. Winning teams will play best 2 games of 3 until there is 1 winning team.
8. Each rotation consists of 5 hands.

. Teams will rotate at the end of 30 minutes.

. Choose Dealer: Each player will draw a card. The highest card determines the dealer.

. Shuffle: Cards must be shuffled face down. (

aler’s partner can shuffle and/or deal for him/her if arrangements are made prior to start of play for each set.)

. Person cutting the cards can choose to cut the deck or pass

. Dealing- Cards are dealt one at a time starting with player on dealer's left, clockwise until each person receives 12 cards.

. The game will be played with a six-card kitty and the cards will be dealt faced down to form the kitty.

. The first four cards of the deal or the last four cards of the deal can not be place in the kitty.

. No more than 2 consecutive cards can be placed in the kitty while dealing.

. When cutting the cards, no more than 2 cuts are allowed, and the top and bottom cards must change.

. Misdeals: In the event of a misdeal, the team loses the deal. Deal passes to the next player.

Bidding: Use the number for a high card bid (e.g., “4” ) Use the word “Special ” or “Low” for a low card bid (e.g., “4 Special” or “4 Low”). Use the word “No” only for a no-trump bid (e.g., “4 No”).

. Each player must bid or say, “Pass”.

. Scoring: In order to win a game, the bidding team must at least make the minimum bid of 4. That team receives points for their bid as follows: 4 = 4 points, 4 Low = 4 points, 4 No = 8 points. 1 additional point for a Boston.

. When the team does not make their bid, the opponents receives the points for that game.

. Playing: Players are responsible for counting their own cards and discarding a 6-card kitty.
26. The kitty stays with the winning bidder.
27. The winning bidder should repeat the final bid prior to playing the first card.
28. The bidder collects the books and chain stacks in front of them.
29. No slapping, slamming cards or body language.
30. All hands must be played out unless the remaining cards are all winners.
31. Renege (loss of game):
32. You cannot call a renege on your own team.
33. A player cannot bid out of turn.
34. A player cannot play out of turn (except on the last book of the hand).
35. A player must follow suit when they have a card of that suit in their hand and can not be forced to renege- unless the next player has already played.
36. A player must play a joker the first time a suit is led when they do not have the suit in their hand.
37. A book must be stacked prior to the next play.
38. A renege cannot be made from the opposing team to stop a Boston.
39. Prize: The score sheets will be collected and tabulated at the end of each round.
40. At the end of the tournament, 1st, 2nd & 3rd place teams will divide the prize money (based on number of players) and receive bragging rights.
