Mr. Henry's 6th Grade Class

Hello and welcome to my class site. Here you can find useful information about things going on in class, school, and the community or just stuff I may find fun to share.

What we will be doing in 6H this week: 9/24 - 9/28

  • Writing
    • This week we will continue to develop our writing skills as we focus in our writing and developing personal narratives. Our focus this week is to learn from experienced writers and apply the strategies they use in their own writing into ours.
  • Reading
    • This week students we get back into the groove of reading on a regular basis, and learning essential reading skills and strategies before we begin our first reading unit. Students are expected to read at least 20 minutes a night.
  • Social Studies
    • This week students are jumping into our first unit as we begin to study Early People and Lifeways. We will study and discover how the earliest humans lived, and how we as people transformed from hunters and gathers to living in complex societies.

A little bit about myself. I am originally from Manitowoc, I then went to school at Augsburg University in Minneapolis where I played soccer and studied education on the side ;) I am entering my first year teaching and I could not be more excited about teaching 6th grade. I think it is one of the most fun age groups and I love the energy, passion, and weird dance moves that they bring with them to class on a daily basis. I will also be teaching Social Studies for the switches. I love to find new ways to make history come alive and be fun and exciting and I cannot wait to get started. I currently live in Green Bay with my wife, Allison, and our 3 yr old mixed black lab, Franklin (what a coincidence!)
