Applied / Contextualized subjects are subjects that all SHS students will take; however, contrary to core subjects, which are only meant to cover the most basic topics, applied subjects are designed to focus on the specific applications of certain subjects in the student’s chosen career track or learning strand.

Work immersion refers to the subject in the Senior High School curriculum involving hands-on experience or work simulation for at least 80 hours. DepEd Order No. 30, s. 2017 provides the legal basis for implementing work immersion in all senior high schools. The program involves three stages - pre-immersion, immersion, and post-immersion. Learners apply their skills at work immersion venues under the supervision of partner institution supervisors and work immersion teachers.
