Double Click & Insert Menu
To add content you can either:
Double click in the space on the page you want to add to - this will offer you the options of adding an image, embedding, uploading, adding from Drive, or adding Text.
Use the Insert Menu on the righthand side
Content Blocks
On the right, click Insert.
Under "Content Blocks," click on the layout you want to your page. It will be added automatically.
OR
Hover over it then, click and drag it to where you want it to go.
Add text, images, docs, or videos.
At the top right, click Publish.
Cutting, Copying, Pasting Items & Sections
To Cut, Copy and Paste
select the item/section to cut or paste, or click where you want to paste
use your keyboard short cuts to
cut - Control / Command X
copy - Control / Command C
paste - Control / Command V
copy an item or section by clicking on it and then clicking on the copy icon
To Move Items / Sections
select the item by clicking on it to get a blue box around it/go to the left hand side of the section until an arrow appears then click before then hovering over the 10 dots to get a double arrow cross
to move an item/section drag it to where you want it to go, using the blue line to indicate where it is.
Spacers
You can use spacers to re-arrange your site layout and add empty spaces between different items.
On the right panel, click Insert and then Spacer.
You can drag and drop to move the spacer, and you can adjust the size of the spacer.
To publish your changes, at the top right, click Publish.
Dividers
On the right panel, click Insert then Divider.
This will add a Divider line between sections.
On the right panel, click Insert then Divider
To Add Text
Either double click and click on T or on the right, click Insert and then Text box.
In the menu, click the Down arrow and then choose the text, heading, or title style you want.
Add your text to the box.
To publish your changes, at the top right, click Publish.
To format your text
Highlight the text, or click where you want to insert a list or link.
In the menu at the top, choose how you want to format your text.
To publish your changes, at the top right, click Publish.
Adding and Positioning Single Images
You can use an image from your computer, an image from your drive or something straight from Google Images!
Click insert and then images.
Choose an image to upload, from Google, or from your Drive. Alternatively you can also drag items from your Downloads.
Click on your image to resize it (by dragging the corners) or to crop it using the crop button!
Image Carousels
Select the images that you would like to use for your carousel. You could put these in a folder within your site folder so they are easy to find!
Click select image and then click on Drive to locate your folder.
Click Insert and Image carousel.
Select your images and your carousel will appear! You can adjust its size and choose its location on your site.
Embedding Other Sites on Your Site
Copy the link to the site you want.
Double Click on your site where you want it to go. Select Embed.
Click on By URL, then paste the link.
Select how you want it to look, then click Insert.
Embedding Hāpara Workspaces
You will need to publish your workspace to embed it into your site. Click on the Sharing link on the bottom left hand column of your workspace.
Publishing your workspace will allow students, parents and anyone visiting your site to view it.
Students will still need to access the workspace via the student dashboard so you could create a link on your page where the workspace is shared for ease of access.
Toggle to Now Visible Publicly and Copy the link.
Double Click on your site where you want the Workspace to go. Click on Embed.
Click on Embed By URL.
Choose how you want it to present.
Click Insert.
Adding Files and Folders from your Drive
You can share items from your Drive on your site. However, it is important to note that if a file is stored on a shared drive or has restricted sharing permissions, only people with access will be able to see the file. In order for all viewers of your site to see it the 'General access' needs to be set to "Anyone with the link - viewer".
To Add Files from the Insert Menu:
On the right panel, click Insert then Drive.
Either select from your folders and files or use the search bar to enter in keywords to find your file or folder.
Click on your selection, then click Insert.
A quick way to add a file/folder is to copy and paste the link to the file/ folder into search bar. This will bring up only that item. Then tap enter twice..

Click on your selection, then click Insert.
When you are adding content to a page there may be a time where you need a placeholder to remind you or indicate to collaborators that there is something to add later.
On the right, click Insert and then Placeholder.
To add heading and body text, click the text boxes.
To publish your changes, at the top right, click Publish.
You can add a collapsible text box to save space on your Google Site.
On the right, click Insert and then Collapsible group.

How to add YouTube Videos & Videos from your Drive.
YOUTUBE:
Videos
On the right panel, click on Insert then on YouTube
Paste in the URL (if you know it), or search for the video you are after.
Click on it then press select. Resize the video to what you would like.
Playlists
Open the playlist and locate the url to copy in the SHARE button.
Follow the instructions above.

Paste in the URL (if you know it), or search for the video you are after.
Click on it then press select. Resize the video to what you would like.
FROM FILES:
On the right panel, click on Insert then on Drive
Search for the video from your drive and insert.
As above, resize to the video to what works for you.
Find an Audio clip you want to Download and click on the three dots, then click on Download and move it from your Downloads to your Drive.
Make sure the file permissions are set to 'Anyone with the link - viewer'.
Copy the link to the Audio file in your Drive.
Double click on your site where you want it.
Click on the embed symbol <>
Paste in the “By URL” section
Resize.
On a computer, open Google Calendar. You can only get the code to embed in your website from a computer, not the Google Calendar app.
In the top right, click Settings and then Settings.
On the left side of the screen, click the name of the calendar you want to embed.
In the "Integrate calendar" section, copy the Embed Code iframe code displayed.
Under the embed code, click Customize.
Choose your options, then copy the HTML code displayed.
Your embedded calendar will only be visible to people you've shared it with. To allow all visitors to see your calendar, you'll need to make it public.

You can use the Map option in the Insert Menu to add a Google Map or a Google My Map from your Drive.
Open the Insert menu.
Choose Charts.
Select a Google Sheet that contains a chart and use the Insert button.
Select the Chart from the Google Sheet and use the Add button.
Move and resize the chart as you wish. On small screens you can open the chart full screen. Charts will update automatically from the Google Sheet.
At the right, click Insert and then Social links.
You can add a URL or email address for each social link.
Optional: you can also add a custom icon image for each social link. For popular social media websites, Google Sites will automatically provide icon images.
Click Insert.
Click the social link icons to edit them. You can edit the icons' size, shape, style, color, and alignment.
