Term 3: Information/Report writing
Reading
Learn: During our reading sessions, we will read a text as a whole class, and use the text to build comprehension, vocabulary, study author language and understand the text structure. Students will make personal connections between the text, other texts and themselves, and present their opinions and ideas to others.
Students will also read in small groups or individually with the teacher to build other reading skills such as fluency and decoding skills using PM and decodable books and passages. .
Create: Students will demonstrate their learning by answering questions, making personal connections and sharing their opinions about the text verbally and written.
Share: Students will use their knowledge of text structure and language features to write their own text.
Writing
Learn: Students will study various text structures and language features using different texts and personal experiences. We will practice different Syntax activities each day for short burst writing.
We will use the Talk4Writing method that supports oral language and writing skills. . (https://www.talk4writing.com/ )
Create: Students will demonstrate their learning by using the language features and grammar to write sentences and well as a whole text.
Share: Students will work on writing their own text, and will have the opportunity to publish their work using a digital application.
