Several Priorities
In his initial assessment upon arrival in April, 2024, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Jeffrey Moore identified several priorities for curricular work:
Information: MUFSD lacks a) detailed, standards-aligned, and mission-aligned data on students and b) tools to bring those data to the the school community to effect personalization of programming for each student.
Access: the data that we do have suggest that our most compelling opportunities for personalization toward individual aspirations are insufficient, and not available to all.
Teaching and Learning: while strong pathways and strands exist in certain disciplines, the district's overall program and its model of teaching and learning are neither horizontally nor vertically articulated into a cohesive K-12 program for reaching the aspirations of the district's mission.
Communication represents an overarching priority. There is a lack of communication about and coordination over curriculum projects at MUFSD. This website, the forthcoming podcast, and more efforts pointed both internally and externally will serve to keep all members of our school community apprised of the progress of curriculum work, and of opportunities to participate.
Below, we lay out the big picture of our planning. We will also provide periodic updates on projects through snapshot documents below. The most recent snapshot will always be at the top of the list.
The Big Picture
See this document for an overview of our plans.

Key to Snapshots
Each project has a Current Status:
Assessing : project has been identified, and is being considered/planned.
Progressing : development has begun.
Implementing : development is complete, and implementation is underway toward measurement of impacts.
Holding : project is waiting for something else to finish.
Though each project will address all of the priorities listed above, each will have a Primary Priority.
