I'm Carly (Ms. I), your Makalapa Elementary School Military & Family Life Counselor (MFLC). In addition to supporting your child during the school day, I'm also available to meet with parents/guardians in person. To schedule an appointment, please call (808) 265-0715.
The MFLC program offers service members and their families confidential, non-medical counseling individually or in groups. Issues that can be addressed include:
Adjusting to a new duty station or school
Deployment and separation, and reunion/reintegration adjustment
Behavioral concerns
Improving communication with siblings and parents
Family dynamics
Fear, grief and loss
Transition stress
Social skills and peer interaction
Building confidence and resilience

Attention military spouses! The National Military Family Association offers scholarships for military spouses (Active, Reserve, Guard, Retiree, 100% Disabled Veteran, and Fallen Service Member). Scholarship awards can be used for education and professional development. Applications accepted year round. Click here.
