The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in coordination with the Federal Communications commission (FCC), will conduct a nationwide test of their emergency alert systems on Wednesday October 3. At 1:18 pm local time that day, a message will be broadcast to all connected cell phones. It is anticipated that all cell phones that are turned on, even if they are on "silent" mode, will make a noise when the test message is broadcast. Therefore, it is important that everyone is aware of this test in advance of October 3. It is anticipated this will be a major disruption for a few minutes during the school day when all cell phone in the building make a noise. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in coordination with the Federal Communications commission (FCC), will conduct a nationwide test of their emergency alert systems on Wednesday October 3. At 1:18 pm local time that day, a message will be broadcast to all connected cell phones. It is anticipated that all cell phones that are turned on, even if they are on "silent" mode, will make a noise when the test message is broadcast. Therefore, it is important that everyone is aware of this test in advance of October 3. It is anticipated this will be a major disruption for a few minutes during the school day when all cell phone in the building make a noise. The Compass takes place in the not-too-distant future and tells the story of a teenage girl's consequences of using the app Compass to make a very difficult decision.
