Monday & Tuesday (3/2 & 3/3): First day of Unit 8: Simple Harmonic Motion, Hand out papers for the unit, Discuss SHM, Give 3 examples of SHM:

uniform circular motion
***For this unit we will use those 3 examples regularly, so get to know why they exhibit SHM!
Discuss graph of SHM (Cosine vs. Sine graphs), Define terms form the graph: amplitude, crest, trough, period, frequency, Try a few frequency problems, Write down equations for the displacement, velocity, and acceleration for an object in SHM (brief discussion of calculus), Define Hooke's Law for springs (what is a spring constant), Discuss the various positions of a mass connected to a spring for SHM, Discuss Newton's Laws & Energy Conservation for springs, Introduce Geogebra Simulation for a mass connected to a spring,
HW: Continue working on simulation, begin working on WebAssign on SHM & Energy
Wednesday & Thursday (3/4 & 3/5): Discuss hanging a mass from a spring and determine the spring constant of a spring, Discuss the units for a spring constant, Introduce Lab on finding the spring constant for a spring and a rubber band, Do lab, turn in lab, Continue working on SHM Geogebra Simulation

Tuesday & Wednesday: (3/10 & 3/11): Hand in Geogebra Simulation, Try page 10 in packet/Discuss how to make a velocity-time graph and acceleration-time graph from a sinusoidal, position-time graph, Also review connections between Period, Angular velocity/Angular frequency, & Amplitude, Complete the table on page 4 of the unit packet (understand or memorize this chart for the test), Do a few practice problems form pages 7 & 8 from the unit packet--Do the last one with a partner

Thursday & Friday: (3/12 & 3/13): Discuss test next Thursday & Friday, Discuss graphing and SHM, Complete pages 11 & 12 from unit packet, hand out 3 worksheets (extra SHM problems, 2 AP workbook pages), time to work on the 3 worksheets
