Registration is a time when you get to blaze your path through college; it's the time to pick your classes for the following semester.
Every semester you'll sit down with your academic advisor to discuss what classes you'll be taking in the next semester. This usually happens in November for the spring semester and April for the summer and fall semesters.
First Year, Second Year, and Undecided: For students who have earned under 54 credits or are undecided you will meet with your Professional Academic Advisor.
Juniors and Seniors: For students with 54 credits or more in a declared major, you will meet with your Faculty Academic Advisor. You can find the names of your Professional and Faculty Advisors listed in Classic Student Center in MaineStreet on the right under "Advisors" or in the Newer MaineStreet View under "Academics" > "Advisor Information."
See the above screenshot clips on where to access your advisor's information depending on which view of your Student Center you're using
E-mails are sent out usually in October and March to alert you of the specific registration dates. Your Priority Enrollment date/time will be listed in MaineStreet on the right hand side under "Enrollment Dates." Your registration date will be based on accumulated credit hours (those with the most register first). Your priority enrollment date ensures that you get priority access to the classes you need!
More info and important registration dates can be found on the Office of Registration page here.
At your Priority Registration appointment, you will discuss your remaining requirements, academic goals, and review your planned schedule for the upcoming semester.
To help you prepare for and get the most out of your advising meeting, it will be helpful to do the following beforehand:
Review your Degree Progress Report in your MaineStreet Student Center. Both the New Student Center and Classic Student Center Views offer the ability to review your Degree Progress.
Look at the course schedule in MaineStreet and add potential classes you want to take to your Wish List (Classic) or Shopping Cart (New). You can find a Wish List (Classic) video tutorial here and the Shopping Cart (New) video tutorial here.
Confirm any requisites for classes in the course description (e.g. you need to have a C- or higher in MAT 100 before taking MAT 101 the next semester)
Check if you have any holds which may prevent you from enrolling and get them resolved (e.g. financial, immunization)
Review any scholarship or financial aid requirements that may impact your schedule.
NOTE: While priority registration appointments are not required, meeting with your advisor insures you are on the correct track with your class choices. It is important to meet with your advisor on a regular basis.
Depending on which Student Center (Classic or New) you use, you will either enroll using the "Wish List" (Classic) or "Shopping Cart" (New) in your Student Center. Ideally, you'll have these classes ready to go before you enroll in your next semester's classes.
