Your First Week. You will meet with your HR Partner during your first week of employment. The meeting will consist of an introduction to campus, an overview of benefits, and any other employment-related questions you may have. We look forward to meeting you!
Learn how to enter or approve your paid time. We all have responsibility for entering our time, whether it is all of our hours (for non-exempt job roles) or vacation or sick-time usage. Managers also have the responsibility for approving time for their team. Helpfully, our Payroll department conducts weekly time-entry training so that you can learn how. Offered Mondays at 1:00pm EST, please register here. If required for your job, Time Approval training is also offered biweekly on Tuesdays; register here.
Also, here are some Payroll "How-To" Articles, which contain detailed info on all things Payroll related including how to enter/approve time. The Payroll office, which manages all employee accounts, can assist with any information changes or updates. They can be reached at either payroll@maine.edu or 207-581-9104.
Select your Tax Withholding by completing your W-4. Access to this in your MaineStreet Self-Service account only becomes available as of your first day on the job. Once it has been processed, your paychecks moving forward will reflect your specific choice. Until then, the default Tax Withholding is single and no adjustments.
Select any Voluntary Deductions for Retirement you would like to make. Access to this in your MaineStreet Self-Service account only becomes available as of your first day on the job. UMS' public higher education status meaningfully and generously sets us apart. Our employees have two avenues: 457 and 403(b), plus you are able to select between pre-tax and Roth options. When you select your voluntary deduction preferences, your paychecks moving forward after processing time will reflect your choices.
