What We Air

At UMA Radio, we believe in the power of the internet to bring people together and create a shared experience. Our music playlists will span a wide range of genres to cater to all musical tastes. In future, we also hope to feature special segments showcasing local artists, giving them a platform to reach a wider audience.

Beyond Music

We’re more than just music. Our station will host a variety of programs that cover topics such as campus news and information, student life, academic discussions, and cultural events. Tune in for engaging talk shows, thought-provoking interviews with professors and community leaders, and live coverage of UMA events. Our aim is to keep you informed and entertained, providing a well-rounded listening experience.

Run by the UMA Community

UMA Radio is a collaborative effort. It’s run by a dedicated team of UMA staff and students who are passionate about broadcasting and eager to gain hands-on experience in radio production. Additionally, we actively involve members of our Alumni and the local communities we serve, welcoming their contributions to our programming and ensuring our station remains a true reflection of the diverse voices around us.

UMA Radio (“we,” “our,” or “the station”) is committed to protecting the privacy of our listeners and users. This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, and safeguarded when you interact with our website, mobile application, and streaming services.

UMA Radio is designed to be accessible without requiring user accounts. You may listen to our content anonymously.

We collect limited information in the following ways:

• Voluntary Submissions:
  When you choose to participate in contests, submit music requests, or contact us through forms (such as Google Forms), you may provide information such as your name and email address. Providing this information is entirely voluntary.

• Streaming and Usage Data:
  Our streaming provider, Live365, collects general, non-identifiable analytics such as approximate geographic location and listener statistics. This information is aggregated and does not identify individual users.

• Website Technical Data:
  Like many websites within the University of Maine System, limited technical information (such as browser type, pages visited, and access times) may be collected automatically for statistical and performance purposes only. This information is not used to personally identify users.

2. How We Use Information

Any information you provide is used strictly for its intended purpose, including:

• Contacting contest winners

• Responding to listener inquiries or requests

• Improving programming and user experience through general analytics

We do not sell, rent, or use your information for marketing beyond the original purpose for which it was provided.

3. Cookies and Tracking

UMA Radio does not use cookies or tracking technologies directly on its website or app.
However, third-party services (such as embedded players or Live365) may use their own technologies in accordance with their respective privacy policies.

• Live365 (streaming provider)

• Embedded media players

• External form tools (e.g., Google Forms)

These services operate independently and may collect limited data as part of their functionality. We encourage users to review the privacy policies of these providers.

Information submitted through forms may be shared internally with UMA staff or affiliated departments only as necessary to fulfill the purpose of the request (e.g., contest administration). This aligns with University of Maine System practices where voluntarily submitted information may be shared for appropriate handling.

We do not share personal information with external organizations except as required by law.

6. Data Retention

We retain submitted information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purpose for which it was collected (e.g., contest completion or responding to inquiries). Information is not stored longer than needed.

UMA Radio follows University of Maine System standards and practices to protect information from unauthorized access, misuse, or disclosure. While no system is completely secure, reasonable safeguards are in place to protect the information we receive.
