One important thing to remember is ROME: Respiratory Opposite Metabolic Equal. 

This means that in Respiratory Acidosis and Alkalosis, the pH is going to be opposite of the PaCO2 level. In Metabolic Acidosis or Alkalosis, the pH is going to be the same as the bicarbonate level.
