With your help at the 2025 Early Education Career Pathways Summit, we collectively identified three strategic priority areas:
Strategic Priority 1 | Develop and maintain clear, consistent, and supportive articulation agreements across Maine's educational institutions
Strategic Priority 2 | Improve information sharing, collaboration, and coordination across Pathway organizations and government sectors
Strategic Priority 3 | Ensure funding is sustained to support pathways AND to compensate Maine's educators who advance
Next steps: Because the current early care and education system is so complex and siloed, it will take a set of coordinated, aligned strategies to support expanded access to high quality career pathways and supports in our state. Learning from Dr. Kim Kryzanowski’s presentation on how Delaware overcame similar challenges to offer statewide articulation for the CDA, and the hope for what statewide action can achieve, MRTQ aims to convene a group of system-level partners to inform and support the design of articulated career pathways here in Maine (Strategic Priority 1).
Maine's Early Education Career Pathways Summit is designed to help inform recommendations for future systems improvements that address existing barriers and better meet the specific needs of the early childhood workforce in Maine. With many ongoing initiatives already focused on advancing Maine’s early childhood workforce, this summit does not create new recommendations. Instead, this summit brings together the goals, strategies, and recommendations from existing plans, initiatives, and frameworks.
