Event Description
This will be a Business Analytics competition by teams of students over a 40 hour period. The teams will work on a common dataset and prepare and present a 10-15 minute presentation.
Teams of students will compete on analyzing a common dataset. The dataset will be announced/released at the end of the opening orientation session on April 17th at 6 pm. Teams will work on the dataset from 7 pm on Friday April 17, until 11 am on Sunday The teams will analyze the dataset. The teams will create a presentation and will present before a panel of judges on Sunday April 19th. The top three teams will be chosen by the judges. AI tools will be allowed.
Space (number of teams) is limited
When: Friday April 17th 2026, 6:00 PM until Sunday April 19th 3 PM (buildings will be accessible during business hours).
Where: Luther Bonney Hall and McGoldrick Center. Exact schedule, rooms, and rules will be shared with teams that were selected.
Teams: 2 to 5 students per team. Each individual can only participate on one team.
Prizes: Scholarships of at least $1000 will be split by the top three teams.
Eligibility: Open to all USM students. Graduate students may participate but may only make up, up to 50% of the team.
Application: Send email to BANHackUSM@gmail.com with your team name, and each team members names, emails (use your @maine.edu email), class standing (Sophomore, Junior, etc), and major.
Application deadline: Monday April 13th at Deadline extended to Wednesday April 15th at 11:59 pm.
Notification of selected teams: Wednesday April 15th. Extended to Thursday April 16th.
Additional Information: Selected teams will be notified of rooms, schedule, and rules on Thursday April 16th. Teams should be present (at least one member is required to be present) at the introduction session of Friday April 17th from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm, and for the presentation session on Sunday April 19th from 11:15 am to 3 pm.
