The Department of Automotive Maintenance was founded in August 1982. The curriculum during this period implemented the Unit Trade Program, which focused on automotive service and repair courses.
In response to the rapid development in technology, the Ministry of Education implemented the Cluster Education Program curriculum; a new title for the Department of Auto Mechanics was also changed in August 1986.
In 2006, the Department of Auto Mechanics belonged to the Power Mechanical Engineering Group. The curriculum added new professional and practical courses, which involve electrical engineering , electronics, and hydraulics & pneumatics .
