A. School Profile
Founded in 1994, Yun-lin Elementary School (YLES) is located in No. 111, Zhuangjing Rd, Douliu Township, Yunlin County 640003, Taiwan (https://goo.gl/maps/HHhmcD1VLpkVWaUX6), now has celebrated its 30th school anniversary in 2024, in the name of its Chinese Mandarin meaning “YUNLIN” to represent YUNLIN county. Due to the agricultural decline and the gradual migration of the community population in the rural village, the total number of students is decreasing year by year. There are currently 39 classes and around 1000 students in YLES. The children of new immigrants account for 5% of the school’s students, and the roots of their family origins are from Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand. Thus, there’s a variety of cultural backgrounds for the students to cultivate a sense of cultural diversity and further strengthen their uniqueness to become their advantages for global cooperation and competence. YLES has seized the chance to devote the best teaching resources and efforts to educate the students in the sense of cultural understanding as well as social justice, and guarantee them a safe and sound learning environment.

YLES is committed to school-based curriculum development and diversified planning, and we hope to guide more focused learning motivation and vitality for the children:
1. Include information technology, international culture, calligraphy, tea ceremony, and natural exploration in the curriculum development, with the hope to synchronize campus learning with the world, and synchronize curriculum content with real-life contexts.
2. Promote international education in an all-round way, from the downward extension of English teaching, the increase of English learning hours, bilingual teaching (Art and Life Skill), the international campus environment, the immersive English learning experience, the promotion of international cultural courses such as the SDGS based international education classes, to take a multi-pronged approach to make international education rooted in YLES from localization to globalization.
3. Through the IE-focused approach in curriculum development, teachers are allowed to think about developing more effective teaching methods, arouse students' learning motivation and improve their learning effectiveness in order for them to connect with the world.
