This module introduces students to the fundamentals of finance and aims to develop their understanding of how the finance function fits within a business organization. It covers the essential concept of the time value of money, explaining why the value of money depends on the timing of its receipt or payment. Given the highly integrated nature of today's global economy, understanding the functioning of financial markets, institutions, and the various financial instruments being traded is crucial. The module will also explore theoretical approaches to valuing financial securities and assessing risk.
