MEL is a research laboratory devoted to the integration of affective and clinical science.
We apply methods and insights drawn from basic research on emotion to further understanding of important clinical conditions. Much of our work focuses on major depressive disorder, a common, often debilitating, mood condition.
We are also a teaching laboratory, training advanced undergraduates and graduate students in the measurement and analysis of emotion, using both experimental and naturalistic methods.
