-Storytelling Facilitator-
Hi there! My name is Allison Vedder. I am a fifth grade language arts teacher in Upper Arlington, Ohio. I received a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University in Middle Childhood Education, and I am in my ninth year of teaching. I am currently working towards a Master’s in Instructional Design and Technology in hopes of better utilizing the technology in my classroom to connect, communicate, and create.
In my classroom, I strive to create a community where students feel comfortable, confident, and cared for. I believe this is necessary in order for young people to truly learn and grow. Additionally, I strive to create a space where learners feel creative and capable. I believe in meeting every child exactly where they are regardless of where our educational systems claim they should be. I understand the importance of recognizing each child as the unique and nuanced individual that they are.
As a language arts educator, I am passionate about the power and the magic of storytelling. Every person wants and deserves to be heard. Humans are all so much more alike than we realize, and yet, we are all incredibly different as well. Storytelling helps to bridge the gap. My goal is to harness the power of technology to create opportunities to share stories that will foster connection, communication, and creation.
