國立臺中教育大學自西元1899年創校至今已經邁入121週年。從1899年創校，1943年升格為臺灣總督府臺中師範專門學校，新竹師範學校併入本校，1945年中華民國政府改制為「臺灣省立臺中師範學校」，1960年升格改制為「臺灣省立臺中師範專科學校」，1987年升格改制為師範學院，2005年再升格蛻變為今日之「國立臺中教育大學」。

本校在歷經百年的歲月遞嬗，努力充實與保存本校珍貴的吉光片羽，為歷史的發展見證，留下永恆，繼續邁向下一個燦爛的百年，並朝著新時代創新發展。

National Taichung University of Education (NTCU), established in 1899, has reached its 121th anniversary. Found in 1899, the School was merged with Hsinchu Normal School to Taichung Teacher School (Junior College) of Taiwan Governor General Administration in 1943. In 1945, the government promoted the School to Taiwan Provincial Taichung Normal School. In 1960, it was renamed Taiwan Provincial Junior Teachers College. The School was advanced to Taiwan Provincial Taichung Teachers College in 1987. In 2005, it was upgraded and renamed National Taichung University of Education.

For over one hundred years, NTCU has collected and preserved valuable documents and artifacts, and has witnessed the development of history and captured eternal memories. The University will continue striding forward to the next brilliant hundred years and will have a great innovative development in the new age.
