吳宜蓉博士成長於台北，高中畢業於台灣師大附中，至國立成功大學完成大學和碩士學位，後赴英國與美國深造，目前定居於高雄。

攻讀博士期間，她為教育科學跨學科培訓計畫及貧窮研究中心之國際博士生成員，並於校內擔任多項計畫之兼任助理與教學助理職務，包括高等教育、教育統計與微積分先修課程助教、教育與工作研究中心助理、教育學院院長室計畫助理、美國威斯康辛州教育廳教師證照組博士生研究實習，以及教育學院國際參與辦公室之同儕輔導員。吳老師同時具有臺灣及美國威斯康辛州公立學校中等教育數學科教師證。博士就讀期間，完成研究生院教學證書。此外，她亦於英國曼徹斯特大學取得教育領導、國際人力資源管理暨比較工業關係雙碩士學位。

她大學畢業於國立成功大學數學系，並修習中等學校教育學程，其後以碩士班推薦甄選第一名之成績錄取心理學系和完成碩士學位。她亦為國立成功大學首批五位交換學生之一，赴北京大學心理學與認知科學學院學習。

Yi-Jung Wu is an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) in the Department of Education at National Kaohsiung Normal University, Taiwan. National Kaohsiung Normal University is a leading public institution in Taiwan dedicated to secondary teacher education. Since it was founded in 1954, its graduates have taught in public schools throughout Taiwan, nurturing countless outstanding secondary school teachers, school leaders, and principals.

During her doctoral studies, she was an international affiliate of the Interdisciplinary Training Program in Education Sciences and a graduate research fellow at the Institute for Research on Poverty.
