Personal presentation

Pavel Pracný, PhD

Assistant Professor at the Department of Geological Sciences
Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic

I am a scientific researcher and dedicated educator with a genuine passion for the environment, natural sciences, and the history of scientific discoveries. My desire to make a positive impact results in my commitment to evidence-based education, rigorous scientific inquiry, and sharing my knowledge and expertise.

During my academic career, I've had the opportunity to develop a range of skills, including research abilities, geoscientific expertise, and proficiency in geochemical modeling. I've also worked on improving my project management skills, which have helped me effectively lead and oversee research projects.

Research areas

I specialize in environmental geoscience, focusing on water-rock-atmosphere interactions in carbonate karst environments. My work includes dripwater hydrology and flow paths, karst hydrogeochemistry, and karst rock mineralogy, exploring elements like magnesium and strontium. I'm involved in environmental monitoring within Moravian Karst caves, assessing human impacts on cave microclimate. For insights into complex interactions, I integrate geochemical modeling.
