What is a shadow cast production?
I'm so glad you asked!
A shadow cast production is when you play the movie on a screen, but have live actors lip-syncing and acting out the movie on stage in front of the screen.
What is "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" and why is it significant?
It's a cult classic!
"The Rocky Horror Picture Show" is a 1975 film adaptation of the stage musical that was released in 1973. The film has since surpassed the stage show in popularity due to its cult following. The film, starring Tim Curry, has a powerful queer presence from a time when that was not seen in the main media. The progressive nature of film, despite contributing to the "villainization of gays" trope, helped pave the way for more diverse LQBTQ culture in film and media.
